Today Sophos enhanced the malware protection provided by Endpoint Security and Control.

The rollout of Sophos Anti-Virus v7.6 for Windows offers additional preventive layers of protection for Windows users, including integrated rootkit detection and on-access web-based script attack detection.

We talk about the integration of rootkit detection and removal into the product in a video where Carole Theriault and I dress up in our finest togs for your edification:

We always had a free standalone anti-rootkit tool, and we’re going to continue to make that available for anyone on the internet to download (it’s proven very popular). However, Sophos customers now have this level of protection built into their regular scanner too.

Over the next couple of weeks Sophos Endpoint Security and Control customers will be automatically upgraded with this new functionality – all you’ll have to do is reboot your PC for it to take effect.

The good news? The nice guys upstairs are giving you all this additional functionality at no extra cost.
