Having a lovely time in San Francisco at the RSA Conference. It’s really rather unseasonably sunny – you’d like it! I haven’t been able to blog as much as I’d like as Christina (who ensures discipline on booth 1817 with a fur-lined whip) doesn’t let me log in when I’m supposed to be talking to customers all day long.
On Tuesday I gave a talk at the conference all about threats on social networks describing how the bad guys are increasingly using these Web 2.0 sites to spread infections and spam, steal identities and scam you out of your hard earned groats. A good crowd showed up and laughed in all the right places.
I celebrated successfully completing my talk by letting the North American Sophos salesoids pressgang me into an evening of lively entertainment at The Mint, San Francisco’s premierer karaoke lounge.
For the record I sang “Tie a Yellow Ribbon” and “Copacabana” (someone else grabbed “Fly me to the Moon” before I had a chance to slaughter it).
Anyway, I’m also giving regular presentations on the booth with Paul Ducklin (aka “Duck”), who is giving a fantastic demonstration of a live malware attack. Not something you often see in a show dominated by ponderous PowerPoint.
Duck will be presenting his own paper, “Malware in the Rue Morgue”, on Friday, at 10:10 am – 11:00 am PST (HT2-402).
