Malicious porn Spike spammers lead to malware

In preparation for yesterday’s media shindig about the new Sophos Security Threat Report, I prepared a couple of videos with help from Dmitry in the Vancouver branch of SophosLabs.

It turned out that I didn’t get to use the videos yesterday, but I thought you would be interested in watching them.

Below you will see a video we have made about how hackers plant messages in the comment section or blog areas of legitimate sites, that claim to link to a sexy video or adult content but actually are directing people to a malware infection.

In the following example, messages have been posted on the website of Spike TV, claiming to contain links to more X-rated content on PornTube. Of course, if you click on the link you could be in for a nasty surprise as this video demonstrates:

I think a lot of people need a strong reminder that hackers are exploiting the web more and more these days to spread their scams and malware.
